Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect when a family enrolls in the Get 100 AMC 10 Program, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who is responsible for your data. Shef Education LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, trading as Shef Scholars ("we", "us"). For any privacy question or request, email shefscholars@gmail.com with "Privacy" in the subject line.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not show advertising or run behavioural advertising on this site.
1. What we collect
When you enroll
Payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your name, email address, billing address or country, and card details, and shares with us your name, email, billing country, and the fact and amount of the payment. We never see or store your full card number.
After payment, I email you to confirm your place and to collect the student's first and last name, their grade, and their most recent AMC 10 score if they have one. You can reply with as much or as little of that as you like.
While the Program runs
- The Google account email address used to join live sessions.
- Attendance at live sessions.
- Work the student submits: homework, problem-set attempts, and practice test answers, together with our marking and feedback.
- Recordings of live sessions, in which a student may appear or be heard if they enable a camera or microphone. See section 4.
- For Mentorship students, notes from private sessions and the written evaluation produced at the end.
- Correspondence you send us by email.
Automatically, when you visit this website
This site does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, and the pages requested, for security and reliability.
The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and your IP address is visible to Google in the process. If you would prefer to avoid this, most browsers and privacy extensions can block third-party font requests.
2. Why we use it, and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Delivering the Program: sessions, materials, marking, feedback, scheduling | Performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Taking payment, issuing refunds, keeping financial records | Contract, and legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) |
| Recording sessions and sharing them with enrolled families | Performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b). Camera-on participation and recording are part of how the Program is delivered and are disclosed before purchase |
| Answering your emails and handling requests | Contract, and our legitimate interest in running the Program, Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) |
| Keeping the site and our records secure, and preventing misuse | Legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Sending you news about future Shef Scholars programs | Consent, Art. 6(1)(a), only if you opt in, and withdrawable at any time |
We will always send you transactional messages about your own enrollment, such as session links, schedule changes, and receipts, regardless of marketing preferences, because we need them to deliver what you paid for.
We do not use student work, scores, or attendance to build behavioural or psychological profiles, and we do not make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
3. Children's privacy
The AMC 10 is open to students in grade 10 and below, so many of our students are minors, and some are under 13.
- Enrollment must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly accept enrollment directly from a child under 18.
- We collect the minimum information about a student needed to teach them and to place them correctly: name, grade, prior score, and their work.
- Participation is taught live with cameras on. We collect no more information about a student than running an interactive class and teaching them requires.
- We never show advertising to students and never use their information for marketing.
- A parent or guardian may review the personal information we hold about their child, ask us to correct it, refuse to permit its further collection, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us. Withdrawing consent for recording may limit what the student can take part in, and we will explain the effect before acting.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information without a parent's involvement, email us and we will delete it.
4. Session recordings
Live sessions are taught with cameras on, and all sessions are recorded. Interaction is central to how this Program is taught, so students are expected to join with their camera and microphone available. This means students appear and are heard in the recordings.
- Recordings are shared only with families enrolled in this Program, through a private link.
- Recordings are never published, posted publicly, sold, or used in marketing.
- Recordings are available to enrolled families through 31 December 2026 and are deleted within 90 days after that.
- Camera-on participation and recording are conditions of enrollment, disclosed before purchase, and are not optional. If this is not right for your family, please do not enroll, or use the refund window in our Terms.
- We will accommodate a temporary camera-off session for a specific reason, such as illness or a problem at home. Email us.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run the Program, and only for that purpose. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Payment processing, refunds, chargebacks, and required financial records |
| Google (Meet, Forms, Drive, Gmail, Calendar) | Live sessions, the enrollment form, distributing materials and recordings, scheduling, and correspondence |
| Our website host | Serving this website and keeping server logs |
We may also disclose personal information:
- when compelled by law, a court order, or a lawful request from a government authority;
- to protect the safety of a student or another person, or to investigate suspected misuse of the Program or infringement of our rights;
- as part of an acquisition, merger, reorganisation, or sale of our business, in which case personal information may be among the transferred assets and this policy continues to apply until replaced;
- when you have authorised the disclosure.
We may share aggregated or anonymised information, which cannot identify any individual, for any lawful purpose. For example, "students improved by an average of X points" is anonymised; a named result is not, and we would ask permission first.
Using student work in our teaching materials
We may reuse student work, questions, and common mistakes to improve our handouts, solutions, and future courses. Where we do this, the work is anonymised: no name, no school, nothing that identifies the student.
We will only use a student's name, image, voice, or identifiable work publicly, including in videos, marketing, or published materials, if a parent or guardian has given separate written permission for that use. We may ask for this at enrollment or later, when we have something specific in mind. Giving permission is always optional, has no effect on the student's place in the Program, and can be withdrawn at any time by emailing us.
6. International transfers
We are a Delaware company, our instructor is based in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and our service providers operate in the United States and elsewhere. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this means your personal information will be transferred outside your region. Where we rely on providers such as Stripe and Google, those transfers are covered by the providers' own safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details.
7. How long we keep it
We keep the information described above for as long as it is useful for running the Program, supporting students afterwards, and improving our teaching materials, and for as long as tax, accounting, and other legal obligations require, which for payment records is typically seven years.
You can ask us to delete information about you or your child at any time, and we will unless we are legally required to keep it. See section 8.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you or your child, correct anything inaccurate, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose. Email shefscholars@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or the UK
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
If you are a California resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act you have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you in the preceding 12 months, the sources it came from, the purposes we use it for, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to; the right to request deletion, subject to legal exceptions; the right to correct inaccurate information; and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We will not deny you service, charge a different price, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised them.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, we have not done so in the preceding 12 months, and we do not have actual knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of anyone under 16.
The categories of personal information we have collected in the last 12 months are:
- Identifiers, such as name, email address, billing address, and IP address;
- Categories listed in the California Customer Records statute, such as name, address, and education information;
- Commercial information, such as your purchase of the Program;
- Internet or network activity, such as server logs from visits to this site;
- Education information, such as competition scores, submitted work, and our feedback;
- Audio and visual information, such as session recordings.
We collect these from you directly, from the student, and from our service providers and browsers as described above, and we disclose them for business purposes to the service providers listed in section 5.
To make a request, email us with "California Rights Request" in the subject line. Only you, or someone you have legally authorised, may make a request about your personal information, and you may make a request on behalf of your minor child. An authorised agent must provide your signed written authorisation or a valid power of attorney under California Probate Code sections 4000 to 4465. We will verify your identity before acting on a request, which may mean asking you to confirm details we already hold; if the request concerns a child under 13 we may ask you to declare under penalty of perjury that you are the parent or guardian. You may make a request to know twice in any 12-month period. We aim to respond within 45 days, and will tell you in writing if we need up to 45 days more. We do not charge for this unless a request is excessive or manifestly unfounded, in which case we will explain and give you a cost estimate first.
9. Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including restricting access to materials and recordings to enrolled families through private links, and relying on Stripe and Google for payment and platform security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we take this seriously we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Other websites
This site and our materials contain links to other websites, and we deliver sessions through third-party platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and a link is not an endorsement.
11. Accessibility of this policy
This policy is a standard web page and should be readable by commercially available screen readers. It can also be printed.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change, and we will notify enrolled families by email of any change that materially affects how we handle their information.
